Oregano is a perennial herb and spice that can grow up to one meter tall. It is specifically cultivated and used for culinary purposes. The essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the aerial parts of the plant. It is usually harvested when wild specimens are flowering, once or twice a year, but it can also be grown in agricultural settings. Our Turkish supplier works with a network of several hundred local small-scale farmers.
